This is today’s notebook set-up. And how many a day in notebooks might start out. I open them up to the day’s page or a new blank page, and set them up for to-do lists, note-taking and project planning. The daily notebook is already pre-decorated and dated. Maybe it sounds more complex and time consuming than it really is. Each of these spreads has one piece of washi tape, and then a couple of stickers. I rip the washi tape in half length-wise because it makes a prettier edge. That’s it. It only takes a moment, but it’s very satisfying.
While I’m sticking things down, drawing a layout, stamping the date … I’m already sorting through my thoughts, planning what needs to be written. Organizing the page helps me to organize what’s in my head.
The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities.
Steven Covey
I open up the daily notebook a few times during the day as things come up, or I complete them. But in the project notebook, I’ll finish up this thought process, then close it up and put it away til the next time. It’s a practical way to organize my time, stay focused and get things done.
