Do you take screenshots?
I’ve written before about my strategies for avoiding the endless scroll through my phone. How to be more deliberate about consuming content. Taking notes, saving links. I came across this great article in BelieverMag about the screenshot as another way of pausing while we scroll and consume, and it resonated with me.
Anyone who’s ever opened an app with intention (to look something up, I swear), only to find herself lost at sea as soon as the scrolling begins, knows that every image on the internet “cancels its predecessor.” The screenshot is one modest way to stem the tide.

Currently, most of the screenshots in my photos app, in no particular order:
- books I want to read, or am reading
- pretty Bible verse graphics
- things I want to practice drawing
- funny text conversations
- aesthetic images from instagram and tumblr
- quotes to remember
Also, sometimes a screen capture copied into a text or email is just an easier way to explain something to someone. An idea, a technical difficulty, just a “this is what I see right now that you should see too”.
What screenshots do you have in your phone?
STATIONERY IN THE PHOTO
- notebook
- stickers (purchased here)
- fountain pen (purchased here)
P.S. Sometimes I print the screenshots and I paste them into my various notebooks, as in the photo of a moodboard above.
